BERENIK DANCE PERFORMANCE - FASHION WEEK NEW YORK - SPRING/SUMMER 2018
November 16, 2017
S/S 18 SHOWCASED BRUSA’S TRADEMARK COLLECTION OF HIP, COMFORTABLE, FUNCTIONAL AND ATHLETIC SILHOUETTES WITH AN ALL-IMPORTANT EDGE. ALONG WITH THE SPORTY SHAPES, SNAKE PRINTS AND THE NEUTRAL COLOR PALETTE OF WHITE, CREAM, RUST, BLACK AND KHAKI ALLOWED FOR A MAJORITY OF THE COLLECTION TO BE POSITIONED AS UNISEX, GIVING THE BRAND A BROADER SPECTRUM OF CUSTOMERS OF ALL AGES AND GENDERS.
The collection showcased everything from blouses, pants, shorts, dresses, jackets and jumpsuits to leather accessories, bags, shoes and sunglasses. New items introduced for the brand this season included underwear, swimwear, leggings, rain jackets and rain pants. Key fabrications used this season were linen, cotton, silk, cupro, rayon and a functional outwear fabric, which lent a high tech touch.
BERENIK designer Veronika Brusa’s inspiration comes from her “crazy” mind (her word). She looks at a collection like a painting, adding color, shape or texture until she feels it’s perfect. With her trademark extreme attention to detail, the S/S 18 collection’s main source of inspiration emanated from a series of Duplo/Lego masks of artist
Marcin Gajewski. These abstract masks were printed on fabrics and embroidered on garments and bags, symbolizing community, rituals and togetherness. The designs play with the irony of beauty and individuality, a core value of BERENIK’s contemporary style.
