BERENIK has high quality standards in regards to materials and workmanship.
The label emphasizes open communication and requests fair working conditions through all stages of production. Due to these reasons, we publish photos of the work environment on our webpage and Facebook regularly.

CLOTHING PRODUCED IN SHANGHAI
During a one-year stay in Shanghai, BERENIK’s designer VB was able to develop many relationships locally. As a result of the dynamic and rapid networking for which Shanghai is known, she came across a small manufacturer outside the city. The two ambitious producers from Germany have specifically specialised in high-quality productions of small series.
The label “made in China” suffers from a poor reputation with respect to working conditions, poor quality or the materials used. This is unfortunately true in many cases, above all in the case of cheap products that are produced in large quantities.
BERENIK however believe that the days of “cheap but worthless” in China are numbered. The label is happy and proud to work with producers in China, who are in the process of writing a new chapter in the textile and clothing industry: responsibly made in China.
This manufacturer employs tailors and dressmakers with ambitions for their profession and attention to detail. Each one of them has the knowledge and skills to produce a piece of clothing from the beginning up to the finished product. All 19 employees have employment contracts, health and social welfare insurance, regular working hours, meals from the in-house canteen, and receive fair wages. The employees are encouraged and supported in participating in education and further training programs with the goal of counteracting the fluctuation that is customary in China and thus continuously improving the quality of the work and the products.
As a result of stays of several weeks in order to develop the collection at the manufacturer in Shanghai, the label has succeeded in developing close and personal relationships to the tailors, dressmakers, seamstresses and assistants.
What we also appreciate in the site in Shanghai is the wide range of possibilities relating to the production of clothing. It is thus possible to order the fabrics required within a few days or even only hours. Many techniques such as digital and silk-screen printing, lasers or knitting are difficult for us to implement as a young label in Europe and can be realised more simply in Shanghai and thus inspire our ideas.
